The officers were off-duty at the time of the attack on Greek Street in Soho at around 3.30am on Friday.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were called by London Ambulance Service to reports of a man stabbed.

“Officers attended the scene,” said a spokesman.

“A second man was subsequently located – he was also suffering stab injuries.

“Both males were taken to hospital for treatment – the condition of both males is now stable.

“A man has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm GBH and possession of Class A drugs.

“He was taken to a west London police station where he remains. Enquiries into the circumstances continue.”

It comes after a knife-wielding maniac went on a bloody rampage in London’s West End last year.

A young female police officer suffered a serious stab wound to her arm in the attack.

And a male officer was stabbed three times in the neck and once in the chest.

Shocking video footage showed the wounded male officer shirtless and being helped by colleagues afterwards, with one of them using his hand to stem blood pouring from his neck.

Footage also showed the male suspect being pinned on the ground by police after he had been Tasered several times to bring him under control.
